In 1974, the population of Île Bizard was 3,300. In 1980, it reached a population of 6,300. In 2003, the population more than doubled to 14,000. At this rate, the city of Ïle Bizard expects to reach a population of 18,000 by the end of 2005. In this perspective came the decision to develop the needs of the community in such ways as providing a place for recreational activities and sports equipment. As a result, the St-Raphael Sports Complex, a non- profit organization extended its property by 42,900 square feet.

On the first floor of the complex is one rink that operates 12 months out of the year since October 1995. It can seat up to 250 spectators. The new development includes the reception, administrative offices, conference room, a resto-bar café, fitness center, gymnasium and much more. The gymnasium is located at the end of the hall of the first floor and can hold up to 500 people and can also be divided in two. The left side of the gymnasium can be rented out for the activity of your choice; volleyball, badminton, soccer, floor hockey, etc. On the right side you will find GYMIBIK, a gymnastics club. There are also two private locker rooms for members of the fitness center. The locker rooms provide members with lockers, washrooms, as well as, a place to relax and watch TV after a visit to our sauna, jacuzzi or after taking a nice hot shower.

The fitness center is located on the second floor, access to the second floor is by the stairs in the front. Upstairs, on the left-hand side is the weight/cardio room followed by the sound proof aerobics room. Situated on the left-hand side is HOCKEY CONCEPT, a goalie development center. At the end of the hall there are two rooms which can be rented for birthday parties, meetings, dancing... In addition, there is the entrance to the stands that overlook the gymnasium, which can seat up to 150 spectators.
